Life isn't always fame and spotlight, sometimes it is a nightmare you must live through.
Ben hasn't had the best childhood either, but becoming the man he did shows tremendous character and strength. Ben may not know exactly what he is getting into when he sees Xavier again in over a year, but he quickly learns that it will take a stubborn and strong man to break down the walls that Xavier has built around himself.
Ben isn't the same character we first met in CMW, which is a testament to how well Miss Walker writes. Xavier isn't either, he showed a heart in CMW, but the real man was hidden until his story could be told. Tears flowed, laughter was heard, and my fingers were white-knuckling my kindle, and for that I must say - Thank you for sharing this book with us Miss Walker!

Aimee Nicole Walker has the ability to look into her characters soul and tell their story as only she can. Ben has never been into relationships. Xavier is trying to heal himself from a very abusive relationship and to find the music he had lost. Ben feels he can help Xavier while being drawn to him. Xavier is trying not to get involved with Ben because he thinks Ben is straight man and his sister's boyfriend. When the truth is revealed the passion begins. Great story, couldn't put it down.
I am crazy in love with this series!
I absolutely love all of these characters. I want them to be real, I want them in my life. And can I just say everyone needs Gram in their life, what a woman!
I knew this book was going to be emotional just from the little bit of Xavier's story we got in book one. But wow, I got choked up and cried through much more of this book than I was expecting to. Not all from sad scenes either but from happy scenes and heartfelt declarations as well. This book was beautifully written! And the ending....oh I wasn't expecting that, can't wait for Jack & Liam's story.
Seriously recommend this series! It just keeps getting better and I fall more in love with this group of characters!

I fell in love with Aimee Nicole Walker all over again. What she does to my heart though.....ugh! After reading Mr.Wright I really thought I would want J.J.'s story next, boy was I wrong! This series is going in the perfect order. Xavier and Ben broke my heart and put it back together. Both were two lost souls, cliche yes but the only way to say it, they came together perfectly.
Addiction is a hard subject to tackle, to make it flow it needs to be just right. Ms. Walker captured it as it is. The battle Xavier had going on with himself is addiction perfectly. The self-doubt and feelings of weakness are debilitating to a newly clean addict. The fear of getting close to someone new and have them find out who you believe yourself to be, believing they will walk away when they do is so very real. Believing someone wants you just as you are is unthinkable to an addict. She described what is a lifelong process spot on.
And Ben, making him accept the need for his life to be different, wanting it to be more than it has always been. Breaking away from his views and belief of what a relationship is is beautiful to witness. I wasn't sure how I would feel about him after the first book, he is beautiful soul. He put aside his needs to give X space to adjust to someone caring about him. Ben proved to be the opposite of what I had thought he would be. Thank you, Aimee for giving us another beautiful story.

Rhythm of Us is Book 2 in Aimee Nicole Walker's Fated Heart Series. It's probably possible to be read as a standalone, but I really think for full enjoyment of this series, it needs to be read in the appropriate order.
Xavier's childhood is heartbreaking, until he's rescued by his older sister and Gram. Xavier loves his family and music. He's living his dream touring with his band but it isn't as good on the inside as it appears on the outside. Xavier has a fight ahead of him, and he decides to leave the band and go home to his family. He has to find a way to get himself and his music back. He works hard to be his old self when his family is around, but that isn't working with Ben. Ben has watched Xavier for the last year and he knows the man that's come home is not the same. Ben is best friends with Xavier's sister which has created confusion for Xavier who doesn't realize Ben's gay. Ben has watched his best friend find love and happiness and that's what he wants for himself. He wants a future with Xavier but isn't going to get one easily.
This story was full of heartbreak! I loved Xavier and thought he was really such a strong person. Yes, he stumbled along the way and didn't always make good decisions, but he persevered and worked hard to improve. And even though most of his biological family did not teach him love, acceptance and family, he's had his sister, Gram and Chase to love him, if he will open himself up and let them in. All the negatives in his life have created some big walls for everyone to break down and remind him how loved he is. Ben is absolutely perfect for Xavier! Even though he hasn't had a great childhood, he knows what he wants and he's able to provide the support and strength that Xavier needs.
I love that this series has reoccurring characters and we get to know their stories further and where life has taken them. And this series would not be as special if we didn't have Gram's character and all her crazy love for her family. I highly recommend this series!
